Harrington Ball 2024: An Evening of Fellowship and Giving

On Saturday, 16th November 2024, the Harrington Lodge No. 5098 hosted its much-anticipated annual Harrington Ball at Cleve Lodge, the lodge’s historic home in Long Eaton. This black-tie event brought together 60 guests, including brethren, wives, family and partners, for an unforgettable evening of fellowship, fine dining, and dancing....with a much-enjoyed raffle adding to the fun!

The evening began with a fabulous menu provided by the talented team at Apple Tree Catering, who earned high praise for their culinary expertise and service. Guests were treated to a delectable choice of starters, mains, and desserts, including highlights such as homemade tomato and basil soup, chicken breast in a white wine sauce, and tarte au citron with Chantilly cream.

The two newest members of the lodge, just weeks into their Masonic journey, joined the festivities, embracing the spirit of the evening and truly having a Ball!

After dinner, a live vocalist set the tone for an energetic dance floor, performing hits from the swinging '60s to modern classics. The music kept everyone on their feet, celebrating well into the night before carriages at 11:30 PM.

​

The event also made a meaningful impact beyond the ballroom. A raffle held during the evening raised £375, which the Trustees of the Harrington Lodge Benevolent Fund agreed to match-fund, doubling the amount to £750. This generous contribution will be donated to the Long Eaton and Sawley Foodbank to support local families during the Christmas season. The formal donation will be proposed in Open Lodge in December, with the donation to follow soon after.

Photos of the evening flooded the Lodge’s WhatsApp group the following morning, where guests shared warm congratulations and gratitude to the organisers for such a successful event.

The Harrington Ball 2024 was a perfect blend of friendship, elegance, and charity, creating memories that will be cherished by all who attended.
